Day 7 – when the pictures do the talking! :
December 13, 2009
Day 6 – SOUND OF MUSIC!
December 12, 2009
woots! it was Sound of Music day!
As the days are short in winter, we were in a rush today, hoping to be able to cover most of the places of attraction.
BUT THE HIGHLIGHT OF THE DAY HAD TO BE THIS:
THE WELCOMING OF THE LEUNG FAMILY!!
WELCOME TO SALZBURG!!
What could be more meaningful than taking them on a Sound of Music tour around salzburg city since Michelle had been watching this all-time classic before she arrived in the city!
We headed back to Mirabell Garden once again as Michelle could relate to the steps where Maria and the kids sang ‘Do-Re-Mo’ and we could see that she loved being there! ![]()

Then it was time for our next SOM destination.
Remember the scene where Maria took the kids out without Captain Von Trapp’s consent – thereafter heading back to the home and falling from the boat into the water?
Yup, we were there! (but on the opposite side of the house. haha)

Headed to a pizzaria for lunch but we felt that the pizzas were way too salty…. :X

Well, it wasn’t that easy to hunt down all the locations where they filmed SOM – the next location that we were set on going was the SOM Pavillion where the song ‘You Are Sixteen Going on Seventeen’ was performed!
It was rather challenging to search for this place because the sun had set by then and the parks were all super dark. Nevertheless, we were very set on hunting this place down for Michelle. Hurhurhur.
We were about to give up hope on finding this pavilion when suddenly, a camera flash lit up in the near distance and we saw THE PAVILLION!!! You should have seen that kind of excitement that was on everyone’s face when we spotted the pavilioon!

Here’s a group photo! !

and a final pic for the day before we all turn in:

Day 5 – Salzburg City
December 11, 2009
Finally, we headed down ‘town’ on the fifth day.
As we wanted to leave the bulk of the Sound of Music tour till Michy arrives, we did more of Mozart today.
We purchased a 24-hour ticket in Salzburg City that included admission to most of the places of attractions and access to the public transport within the city area.
Our first stop was at the Mirabelle Garden that you’d find familiar.
It was where Maria and the kids sang Do-Re-Mi on the flight of steps ![]()
Perhaps I was still young 18 years ago, the garden this time around did not look that huge – subsequently, we came to a consensus that the garden was in fact, not that huge afterall – it was just the cinematography in Sound of Music that made it seem really huge.
Anyway! Here’s us doing our own rendition of DO RE MI. hurhurhur

Here’s us with the Hohensalzburg Fortress in the far background.
Will touch more about this later.
Now for this man you see here – he works at Mozart’s birth place and was rather excited to see fellow Chinese visiting. Not only did he welcome us with opened-arms, he even broke the rules and allowed us to take some photos with the artifacts in the building. Hurhurhur. He then spent at least 30min telling us about rather interesting around-the-world facts that was totally unrelated to Mozart. haha. We’d have stayed to listen to him if we had more time.

oKay im really very tired and cant continue blogging for now because the connection’s really slow here. haha.
i’ll promise to continue as soon as i can okay?
more photos to come.
GOOD NIGHT! our next post will feature our dear PRINCESS FROM HK:P
Day 4 – Skiing Part 2
December 10, 2009
HELLO EVERYBODY!! ![]()
Here’s ME reporting on the happenings of day 4!
I’ve been concientious with my blogging and I’m glad this has been able to maintain some form of communication with all of you back home.
Skiing at Flachau two days back kinda freaked the ROOKIES (ernn and hwei) out because the gradient was rather tough. Jiu Jiu decided to hunt for another ski resort that offered a more friendly slope for us – and that’s where we went today – ZAUCHENSEE.
(TIP: ‘SEE’ at the back of every word just means that there’s a lake)
In this case, it’s just a frozen lake i guess?
Anyway, Zauchensee really offered a much better skiing experience for us as we were able to ‘waddle’ at the ‘baby pool’ and master our basics before we head to the actual slopes.

This is Hwei going up the ski lift. SWEET!
Anyway, we spent the whole day at the ski resort and did not really take much photos because we’re suppose to CONCENTRATE on skiing. Haha.
Will be doing more sight-seeing tomorrow and we’ll keep you updated on our whereabouts etc….
Good night for now! ![]()
We can’t wait for porpor’s LOBSTER BEEHOON (did I get it right?)
And Foong yi, MUST BRING PEANUT BUTTER K!
BYEBYE!
Day 3 – Heading to Town(s)!
December 9, 2009
As skiing took a rather ‘taxing’ toll on everyone yesterday, jiu jiu decided that we were gonna do sight seeing today instead.
Woke up at 5+am (oh well kinda used to waking up so early haha) and we started preparing our usual daily breakfast spread!
YUMMMMM!!!!

The sumptuous breakfast geared us up for the day! ![]()
We started packing our daily necessities and were all set and ready to go!
Our first destination was somewhere REALLY REALLY SACRED.
We’re not gonna tell you where we went but will show you some pictures. Will tell you more in detail when we’re back
HEH HEH HEH!!
Bad Ischl Town:
*hungry* stopped by a take-away stall for lunch! MAMAMIA!!!

Hallstatt:
so sinful eh? muahahaha. we’re heading to the ski resort again tomorrow, but another one this time around because of beginners like hwei and myself. This new place will be much easier for beginners. YAY!
Alright, if you realised, the number of words in my posts are getting lesser by the days because I gathered that pictures speak more than words yes? Brain’s not working that well too… holiday mood. Haha.
That’s all for now. Will report more on skiing tomorrow. *tired*
BYEBYE!!
*Mun Yi: We face shit here too. Alot of ducks just poo on the ground. Haha.
Day 2
December 8, 2009
SKIING DAY!!!
BUT WAIT. Before we go into skiing, let’s back track a little to 6am (Munich Time). All of us were seated in the living area because we slept at 9am the previous night. We then started to prepare a sumptuous spread for breakfast!
Today was skiing day and we travelled for approximately an hour to this town called Flachau, just 4-5 towns away from Abertau.
The ski resort near our place was not ready for skiing because there wasn’t enough snow and we had to go to Flachau as an alternative.
Introducing the two ROOKIES to skiing – we sure had a hard time balancing on the snow man. While we were busy ‘mastering’ our basics, the Cheong family ski-ed down slope after slope and were totally awesome in the ski resort!!
CLAP CLAP!
Here’s jiu mu with her brightly coloured ski suit that can be spotted from afar! She looks really cheery here, doesn’t she!
Weather’s like super cold today. Heard that it went down to -1degcel.
Brrr…. it’s gonna get colder from this point forth, so foong yi, better bring more clothes okay!
Wrap michelle like a BA ZHANG! muahahahaha… can’t wait for you people to be here!
To those back at home, HELLO!! *waves*!
We miss all of you and will keep this space updated!
COME BACK FOR MORE!!!
It’s not even 9pm here but we’re all like dead ducks, ready for bed!
Good night!
ernn out.
(Hwei says “Hello everyone! The supermarkets are awesomeeeee!!!”)
Day 1
December 7, 2009
However, we were able catch a puny glimpse of it from the foot of the mountain. Instead of Eagle’s Nest, we headed to this pretty lake at Konigssee with super pretty mandarin ducks!
Another place of interest that we visited was the Salt Mine where we took an awesome interactive tour in the tunnels of the salt mine. Will fill you people in when we’re back but here’s a COOL PHOTO of us for now ![]()

Okay, that’s about all for the highlights of day 1. We’re all turning in now, even before 10pm (Munich time) because it has been a super duper long day for all of us and we need to recharge for skiing tomorrow!
Good night for now everyone!
